Use Fall Activities to Add to Your Fall Decor
Now that we’re deep into fall it’s time to really get the most out of the cooler temperatures before the chill of winter sets in. Fall decor can help bring some of the outdoors in, even when the weather cools down. Of course, you’ll also want to enjoy the last of the nice weather before winter sets in. Whether you’re a homebody or you like to get out and enjoy nature, here are a few great activities to help you get the most out of the October atmosphere.
A Blanket is Fall Decor You Can Use
The days are getting shorter and the temperatures are falling in a hurry. That makes October a great time to break out the blankets. Warm toned throws are a great functional piece of fall decor and help you set the perfect mood for a day in. Light a few candles and place them in a rustic candle lantern to set a dusky mood that matches the warm tones of the harvest season, and curl up under your throw or fleece to hunker down for the day.
Use Fresh Apples to Create Festive Decor
Of course, no fall itinerary would be complete without a day at the orchard. Head out to your local orchard and enjoy a day out in the sun. Take in the fresh air, enjoy the cool autumn breeze, and take home a bushel of fresh picked apples. Not only are they great for snacking, but placing them in a bowl is a great way to add fall decor to your kitchen. What’s more, fresh picked apples will last longer than store bought, so no need to worry about leaving them on the counter.
Fire Up the Oven
Take that bushel of fresh picked apples and make some of your favorite fall treats from scratch. A classic apple pie will not only taste delicious as a post-dinner dessert, but it will make your home smell wonderful for when guests arrive. A wonderfully baked pie is an excellent piece of fall decor that will add a cozy touch to your dinner party before your guests dig in.
Go Leaf Peeping
Perhaps the most popular activity, take advantage of the bright colors of October with a road trip through the northeast. Enjoy a day on the road exploring all of the quaint towns and adorable shops found throughout New England and Upstate New York, and take plenty of photos of the orange and red splashed mountains to bring home. Use these photos with some natural wood frames to add to your fall decor!
